Two of Union and Fragment's Air Jordan 1s Have Been Confirmed for Release
The highly anticipated collaboration between Union and Fragment has finally revealed release details for two of the three sneakers in their collection. The Air Jordan 1s have been a closely guarded secret, with leaks hinting at their existence for some time. Now, fans can rejoice as they get a closer look at the upcoming releases.
The first to drop is the Union x Fragment x Air Jordan 1 Black/White, which will be available in a limited capacity at five select stores this weekend. These stores include Undefeated in New York City, Headquarter in Mexico City, Fragment in Tokyo, Tune in Seoul, and Starcow in Paris. Interestingly, only Tune has confirmed a unique release method: customers must wear a Fragment product to receive a scratch-off lottery ticket, offering a chance to purchase the highly sought-after sneakers.
The second confirmed release is the Union x Fragment x Air Jordan 1 Varsity Red/Sport Royal, set for February 14th, conveniently during NBA All-Star Weekend. Union's promotional efforts for this release are particularly intriguing, featuring a dramatic trailer set in a surgical amphitheater, where a medical team works tirelessly on the sneakers. This colorway, with its red, blue, white, and black palette, is believed to be released independently, accompanied by apparel, as confirmed by Union.
One colorway, Sport Royal/Black/White, remains shrouded in mystery, with release details yet to be announced. This sneaker continues to intrigue fans, leaving them eagerly awaiting further information.
The collaboration's signature style, known as the "Urahara Stitch," pays homage to the Ura-Harajuku neighborhood in Tokyo, a hub for streetwear in the '90s. This name was coined by the founders of Union and Fragment, Chris Gibbs and Hiroshi Fujiwara, who both met during that era. The design features contrast stitching that highlights the separation between the collar and the upper, each in different colorways, and includes Fragment's iconic lightning bolt logo on the lateral heel, accompanied by product text on the midsole.
With two releases confirmed and one still to be unveiled, the Union and Fragment Air Jordan 1 collection is set to be a highly sought-after treasure for sneaker enthusiasts worldwide.
