Before Even Stepping Onto the Court, Trae Young's Washington Wizards Debut Ends in Ejection
The NBA's newest star, Trae Young, made an early exit from his Washington Wizards debut, ejected before he even set foot on the court. Young, a four-time All-Star, was acquired from the Atlanta Hawks in early January and was set to make his debut against the Utah Jazz on Thursday night. However, his night took a turn for the worse when he stepped onto the court on Monday to protest a non-call against Tari Eason in the third quarter.
The protest led to a technical foul and ejection for Young, as well as Eason. Young later took to social media to joke about the incident, saying, 'Don't expect me to get ejected too many more times, D.C.😂 ... but I’m definitely bringing that energy & competitiveness when I’m back for my brothers!'
Young has been nursing MCL and quad injuries and has not played since the end of December. He announced on social media earlier on Monday that he was targeting Thursday for his return. The Wizards, who have been one of the worst teams in the NBA over the last decade, are hoping that the recent arrivals of Young and 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis will revive their fortunes. Davis has been out since January with a hand injury.
