The New York City subway system's public bathrooms are in dire need of improvement, according to a recent audit. Commuters at the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station expressed their reluctance to use the restrooms, citing cleanliness and maintenance issues. However, a few brave souls ventured into the Atlantic Terminal's underground bathroom, with some taking precautions by peeking inside before entering. The MTA has responded to the audit by committing to better communication with riders about restroom availability and installing toilet seats in missing bathrooms. They have also embarked on a renovation project, sprucing up the bathrooms with tiles, new fixtures, and fresh coats of paint. Despite these efforts, the audit highlights a persistent issue that needs ongoing attention to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all commuters.
